Research and Scholarly Interests

My research examines leadership practice as it unfolds in diverse organizational and community settings. It is contextualized within leadership theory, organizational theory, and social capital theory. Most recently my research has focused on schooling and leadership in situations of homelessness. In this work, I have partnered with the Homeless Children's Education Fund, the Duquesne University School of Education, and the Allegheny Department of Human Services to learn more about how schools, homeless agencies, and other community partners work in concert to engage issues such as poverty, student mobility, and administrative overturn to serve families' social and educational needs.
