School of Education Alumni Weekend Celebration
Saturday, May 6, 2006

Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 6, because you won't want to miss what the School of Education has planned for Alumni Weekend. And bring a friend! Yes, the weekend is for alumni, but friends of the University are always welcome to join in the festivities.

Truman Lowe The celebration will begin with a morning reception in the historic Virginia F. Harrison Parlor in Lathrop Hall.

Then we'll move to the Margaret H'Doubler Performance Space in Lathrop Hall for the Alumni Weekend Program. It features a presentation by UW art professor Truman Lowe, who is the curator of the contemporary Native art exhibit in the Smithsonian's new National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D. C. Lowe will take us on a guided tour of the exhibit in his presentation, titled "Native Voices, Native Art: Inside the Smithsonian's Newest Museum."

After the presentation of eight School of Education alumni awards, the event will conclude with lunch in the Harrison Parlor.

 

Lunch requires advance registration and payment - call 608-262-0054. (No registration or payment is required for the morning reception and program.)

Recipients of the 2006 School of Education Alumni Achievement Awards include William J. Erpenbach, Beverly M. Gordon, Rosalind Newman, Sylvia Rosenfield, and Joel Spring. Receiving the 2006 School of Education Outstanding Recent Graduate Award is Jay Paredes Scribner. The recipient of the 2006 Lois Gadd Nemec Distinguished Elementary Education Alumni Award is Marc Kornblatt. The recipient of the 2006 Carroll and Robert Heideman Distinguished Secondary Education Alumni Award is Barbara Ann Kemmerer Smith. For more information on these outstanding alumni, click here.
