Alumni Awards

Do you know an outstanding teacher, professor, school counselor, or administrator? An occupational therapist who has shown significant achievement? An artist or dancer who has had a great career? Someone whose lifelong dedication to public service reflects the ideals of the School of Education? If you do, and if the person is a UW-Madison School of Education graduate or certificate recipient, you should nominate him or her for a School of Education alumni award. There are two types of awards:

  • Alumni Achievement Award
  • Outstanding Recent Graduate Award

The Alumni Achievement Award

The Alumni Achievement Award, the highest honor bestowed by the School of Education, recognizes a career of extraordinary accomplishment. Recipients are selected based on one of the following criteria: 1) significant contributions to one's chosen field and an exemplary record of professional leadership, or 2) outstanding service to one's community and/or UW-Madison that reflects the commitment to public service for which the School of Education is known. The nominee must have received a degree or certificate from a program within the School of Education.

Recipients honored for professional achievement must be able to spend a day on campus – date to be determined by individual departments and their recipients. During that time, recipients will give a presentation on a topic of their choice to departmental faculty, staff and students, and will be presented with their awards.

Recipients honored for community and/or university service must be able to attend the School’s Board of Visitors dinner on Thursday, May 1, 2008, where they will be presented with their awards.

The Outstanding Recent Graduate Award

The Outstanding Recent Graduate Award recognizes outstanding graduates who have received a degree or certificate from a program within the School of Education within the past 10 years (1998 or after). Selection is based on demonstrated achievement and leadership within a chosen field, as well as the potential and promise for continued growth and success.

Recipients of the recent graduate award must be able to spend a day on campus – date to be determined by individual departments and their recipients. During that time, recipients will give a presentation on a topic of their choice to faculty, staff and students from their department, and will be presented with their awards.
