BLOG FOLLOWS BOAT BUILDER’S PROGRESS
“There are no straight lines in a boat,” says Joshua Swan, whose comment pretty much sums up the challenges faced in building one. Thanks to a weblog, you can follow Swan as he constructs a 13.5-foot Maine “peapod” rowing workboat out of cedar and white oak in the Art Department’s woodshop. Swan, the department’s artist-in-residence this semester, began the project in January and hopes to complete it in March. If you’re in the area, you can stop in to watch Swan at work Monday through Thursday, 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., now until March 12. Room 7241, Humanities Building, 455 North Park Street.
