RESEARCH: PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
AS ENGINE OF CHANGE
“Professional development is the most powerful engine
of change if you’re trying to change what goes on in
schools,” says Adam Gamoran, professor of sociology

Research. Gamoran’s comments appear in a newsletter
published by the Comprehensive Center-Region VI, which is
housed in the School of Education. This issue, which examines
“Professional Development From the Inside Out: District
