Collections
The Cooperative Children's Book Center is made up of several special collections, each with its own distinctive character. All CCBC Collections are included in the UW-Madison electronic catalog, MADCAT.
The Current Collection includes review copies of nearly all trade books published in the United States for children and young adults in the past 12 to 18 months.
The Basic Collection is comprised of selected children's and young adult trade books older than 18 months that are recommended for school and public libraries.
The Wisconsin Collection is a collection of books written and illustrated by current and former Wisconsin residents.
The Alternative Press Collection is a globally unique collection of books published in the United States and Canada by small, independent publishers. Holdings go back to 1972.
The Historical Collection is a small collection of U.S. trade books that were recommended for children in past generations, including a research collection of first and significant printings of Newbery and Caldecott Medal Books.
The Reference Collection includes current and historical materials related to literature for the young, including general information about children's literature, biographical materials on authors and illustrators, and resources on intellectual freedom, multicultural literature, publishing, and review journals.
