The Cooperative Children’s Book Center (CCBC) of the School of Education is a noncirculating collection of children’s and young adult literature. The CCBC is located in Room 4290 Helen C. White Hall, across the street from the Memorial Union. Take the classroom entrance to the 4th floor. (Note: you cannot get to the CCBC by going through College Library.)
The CCBC has an extensive collection of books published
for children and teenagers in the United States in the 20th century,
as well as
many resources about children’s and young adult literature.
CCBC librarians are children’s and young adult literature
specialists, and we want to help you in any way we can.

The CCBC can help you as you look for children’s and young adult literature and related resources for:
- course assisgnments
- practicums
- student teaching
or any other need.
In addition to our extensive children’s and young adult literature collections, the CCBC has:
- biographical information on authors and illustrators
- professional reviews and evaluations of books for children and teenagers
- lists of recommended books for children and young adults on a wide range of themes and topics
and much more.
The CCBC is a noncirculating library. That means books cannot be checked out, and the resources are available whenver we are open. Stop by the CCBC during our public service hours, or contact us to find out more.
The CCBC also provides opportunities for you to
- Discuss newly published books for children and young adults
- Hear from visiting authors or artists at free public lectures

Faculty/Instructors/Teaching Assistants
CCBC librarians are children’s and young adult literature specialists. We want to help you and your students make use of our collections and resources in any way we can. As you plan your courses we are happy to:
- identify new and recently published children’s or young adult
literature to include on a syllabus or as supplementary reading
material;
- put the children’s and young adult books
on your syllabus on a reserve shelf here at our library (note: we do
not have electronic reserves at the CCBC);
- schedule a CCBC visit for your class. We can provide your students with a tour of the CCBC and overview of our services, as well as present on a wide range of topics, including:
We also want to make sure that your students know about the CCBC as a resource where they can:
- get help locating books for children and teenagers on a specific subject, theme or topic
- see the newest books published for children and teenagers
- research a particular author or illustrator for children’s and teenagers
