Wisconsin Connection
I've lived in Platteville for 35 years. I got my M.S. degree and beyond at UW-Platteville, then went on to teach in the English Department of the university. We're now retired from teaching and living on a lake in northern Wisconsin just north of Hayward.

Presentations
Stories, Stories, Stories! Using hats, masks, props, and puppets, I tell folktales and involve children in the actual telling. Then I show children how I put these stories into the books I write. I like to work with 6-7 groups of children during a school day. Target audience: Pre-K through 5th grade.

Storytelling with Pizzaz. I do hands-on workshops for elementary teachers in an inservice format. I tell complete stories with lots of audience participation, then let teachers come up to copy and make the props, masks, shadow puppets, hand puppets, and more. Each participant will carry away an armload of materials, plus ideas to use in language arts the next day! Target audience: Teachers (Pre-K through 5th grade).

Let's Create a Story! With large groups we all make hand puppets (grades 1-3) and shadow puppets (grades 4-5). Then we break into groups to create scripts for the puppets. Small core groups often present finished stories to the entire grade in an extended school residency. Target audience: Pre-K through 5th grade.

Fees
$495 per day, plus lodging and travel expenses at 36 cents per mile, if applicable. In an extended school residency, the per diem is negotiable.

Additional Comments
I spend part of the year in Barnes (Bayfield County) and part of the year in Platteville.
