Presentations
Finding Courage and Cloth. This slide-illustrated program introduces children to the history of how American women won the right to vote in 1920 after a 72-year struggle. I present background on my own research and writing experiences and share additional material from the history that was not included in "With Courage and Cloth.". Target audience: Children, grades 4-8. Adaptable to an adult audience.

Behind the scenes with "Dragon Bones and Dinosaur Eggs". Wisconsin-born explorer Roy Chapman Andrews comes alive through this slide-illustrated program about his background, explorations, discoveries of dinosaur eggs, and adventures. The program includes the re-telling in Andrews's own words of one or more of his escapes from death. Target audience: Children, grades 3-6. Adaptable to an adult audience.

On the Trail of History. Children gain an insider's look at the process of making a history book. I talk about how I became an author, where I get my book ideas, and how I research U.S. history. Photo research is an important part of my job as an author, and I share slides of published and unpublished images to help illustrate this process. I emphasize the importance of revising to my writing, too. Target audience: Children, grades 3-8. Adaptable to an adult audience.
