Presentations
School Visits - Can be divided into any number of sessions... large group presentations (generally lasting 60 minutes), individual attention in classroom setting, teacher in-service, artist residency, etc. Woven through each presentation is the belief that every child is talented; that doing well at something is more about learning how coupled with the interest to persevere. Students are shown how a typed manuscript grows step by fascinating step into a completed hardcover book. Slides of both published and rejected work are highlighted as the presentation progresses to 'where ideas come from' and 'how to correct mistakes'. Watercolor palette, layout sheets, original art portfolio and unique objects used as brushes are among the many visuals shown. Simple sketches are drawn to demonstrate why research and observation are important. A touch of art history is sprinkled in to show how John Singer Sergeant painted "white" with sparkling hues of turquoise & purple and how Vincent van Gogh taught himself to "see" more clearly. Presentations begin and end with examples of a child's artwork - a reminder that "talent" is in everyone around us and within us too.
. . Target audience: All age groups.

Fees
Fees are $800 plus mileage and lodging (if necessary) for a full day of speaking. Out-of-state schools may require a higher fee if travel time is extensive. The artist will contribute 20% of her fee back to schools that are willing to plan and hold their own Children's Art Exhibit following her presentation. Ideas from past exhibits will be sent upon request.

Additional Comments
Every child is talented, original and has something important to say through creative expression.
