Wisconsin Connection
In 1987, I followed my wife, a Russian professor, to Madison where she took a job at the university. We now have two Wisconsin-born children, I have earned a UW-Madison teaching degree and teach fifth grade in the city's school system.

Presentations
Writing Workshop. In this workshop, best suited for residencies, students have the opportunity to workshop any piece of writing that they and their teachers choose. Target audience: Kindgergarten through 6.

The Young Adult Novel: From Conception to Publication and Beyond. This presentation introduces students to the craft and business of writing. The program includes discussion of the revision and editing process, the trials and tribulations of rejection letters, contracts, galleys, reviews and awards, as well as a question-and-answer period. Target audience: 4-8.

The Art of Storytelling. This workshop includes interactive storytelling with shop talk about the storyteller's craft. Longer residencies may include a student performance as a culminating activity. Target audience: Preschool through 6.

Fees
$300 per day minimum for a school visit, $150 for library programs. Residency fees are negotiable.
