Other Online Directories of Children's Book Creators

This listing is divided into two parts:

• Speakers Directories: including state or regional directories that provide information on how to get in touch with specific authors and illustrators
  
  
• Regional Listings: identity individuals from a specific state or regional but do not provide contact information. Some include links to the authors' or illustrators' web sites, where this information can be found.

There are a number of commercial speakers bureaus and booking agencies that coordinate author and illustrator visits, but we have no way of knowing which are reliable. If you are trying to contact a specific author or illustrator to inquire about a visit but cannot locate contact information via a directory or the indivdiual's own web site, we recommend you get in touch with her or his publisher to make your request. The Children's Book Council has great information on planning a visit and publisher contact information.

Speakers Directories

Many Regional Chapters of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) have speakers directories of their members. Some are limited to authors or illustrators with published books; others are member lists that include aspiring writers and illustrators, and those who have been published in magazines .

Chidren's Literature Network: although not specifically a speaker's directory, this listing of many authors and illustrators in the Upper Midwest includes e-mail addresses and/or links to many of their websites

Indiana: from the state library of Indiana (includes adult authors)

Minnesota: hosted by Metronet, a service of the Twin Cities libraries
