Currently, I am in my ninth year of teaching vocal music at Oregon High School and my 13th year of teaching overall. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree from UW-Madison and a Master of Music Education with a Kodály emphasis degree from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. During the school year I teach three choirs and, in the fall, assist with our high school musical production. I am married and have two young daughters. During my free time I enjoy playing with my kids and taking them to the park, the Henry Vilas Zoo and Milwaukee County Zoo, the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum, and the library. We sing and dance, too – in our living room, of course! I would like to be involved in College for Kids because I really enjoy working with kids. No matter what the environment, watching kids discover and learn is very enjoyable for me. The look on their faces when they find something new to pour their energy into is priceless. I hope to learn something from the students, though, as well. Teaching isn’t a one-way street. I always look to an educational experience for what I’m going to get out of it as much as what I’m going to put into it.
