I am a graduate student in the Human Development and Family Studies program here at UW-Madison. I grew up in California, where I studied psychology and minored in music at the University of California, Davis. Since college I have held several different research jobs, exploring child development, mental health, low-income urban families, and education. I love to do research, especially when I feel that it has the potential to improve the people’s lives. In my current studies, I am learning about how to get social science research into the hands of policymakers, how they use that research, and how to conduct research with diverse groups of people. Among my favorite things to do are listen to and make music, travel and learn about different cultures, hike, swim, and cook. My favorite music is jazz. I play piano and saxophone, and sang in an a cappella group in college. I also spent a year teaching English in Qingdao, China, one of my most memorable experiences. I am excited about the prospect of working with College for Kids and helping students explore such a wide variety of topics that will open their eyes (and mine) to all the world has to offer!
