Teachers/Facilitator

Group 23: Trevor Lecocq

My name is Trevor LeCocq and I am excited to be a facilitator with the College for Kids program this summer. I am currently finishing up my masters degree in counseling and spent much of last year at O’Keeffe Middle School as an intern school counselor. I have always enjoyed working with students, especially helping them get excited about their academic potential. 3 Years ago I had the opportunity work for the Center for Talented Youth, an overnight camp for gifted teens, in Albany, NY. My role as a counselor was to see that each of students felt safe and comfortable and had great a great time when they were not in class. I had fabulous time interacting with these remarkable kids an environment that was academically focused and lots of fun. I can’t wait to work with the students at College for Kids. Now a few more things about me: I was born and raised in a small town in northern Minnesota. My family had a small hobby farm where we raised horses and I spent most of my time playing in the swamps and creeks that surrounded our house. At 27 I still love to be knee deep in dirty water looking for life, but now I usually have one of my 5 nieces or 3 nephews with me. When I can’t be back with my family I like to spend time fishing and getting out of the city. In 2005 I completed my bachelors’ degree in Psychology with an emphasis in educational psych at the U of M Duluth. I then took some time off and lived in Russia for seven months, where I studied the Russian Language. Even in Russia I was able to spend much of my time outdoors and spoke to students about American Culture. That brings me to my time here in Madison. I look forward to meeting you and getting to know you all better this summer.
