All CFK participants will have the opportunity to explore three subject areas. The workshops are taught by UW professors, academic staff, community professionals and experts in their fields with emphasis on hands-on experience. Various workshops are offered in four spheres of learning: Biological Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, and Physical Sciences.
The philosophy of this program is to provide a safe learning environment which promotes children's respect for originality, openness to new perspectives, and hesitation before passing judgment. We want children to discover self-motivation and responsibility for their own education. Students participate in this program to explore the myriad of educational possibilities.
Workshops are grouped into groups of 3 to assure a variety of experiences.
Listed below are 26 workshop groups for College for Kids 2009. Enrollment is limited to 12-13 students per group, so we recommend you prepare a list of your top 5 groups before registration begins. Click on the group number to read descriptions of that group's workshops to help you decide.
