Group 1

Enjoying Wildlife

Wisconsin is home to many fascinating wild animals. Students will learn how to identify birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians of Dane County. They will investigate wildlife ecology and conservation. Wildlife-related activities like bird watching and scavenger hunts will be described and students will participate and receive take-home information. There will be both indoor and outdoor sessions.

Workshop Leader(s): Scott Craven, Jamie Nack

World Flutes, Past and Present

Hear and see antique and contemporary flutes from around the world, learn about the folklore stories and traditional uses of these instruments. Each child will receive a bamboo flute from India and instruction on playing in solo and group performance from world flutes specialist and Canyon Recording Artist.

Workshop Leader(s): Peter Phippen

Social Justice

Students will be actively involved in creating their own concept of social justice as applied to their personal lives and in their homes, schools, and communities. Guest speakers, imaginative activities and journaling will provide resources for ‘dreaming big’ about how to build social justice into our daily lives.
