So Easy a Caveman Could Do It! “Understanding Human Evolution”

Experience the natural history of the human species as we trace our evolution from tree-dwelling ape ancestors to space-exploring modern people. Learn how our ancestors became upright walkers, discovered how to make stone tools, began making art, & other hallmarks of our species. We’ll explore the ancient environments our ancestors shared with strange & sometimes scary beasts - and sometimes even other types of humans! Students will learn human as well as great ape skeletal anatomy & how to apply that knowledge to the human fossil record. We’ll also learn how our early ancestors made primitive tools. This course emphasizes hands-on interaction with real skeletal material & fossil casts - you’ll learn how to be a paleoanthropologist!
