Trek into Biotech

Explore DNA- it’s the code to LIFE! Extract it from food and build models of the molecule. Delve into biotechnology when you master standard lab techniques. Using them, you will work as a forensic DNA scientist to conduct a crime scene investigation based on evidence collected from the scene. You will also discover genetics through experiments with model organisms, including you!

Battle with the Bard-Shakespearean Combat

Do you think Shakespeare is boring? You might be surprised to learn that his plays are full of action. In this workshop we will explore a great Shakespearean fight scene from the page to the stage. The course will feature a safe and fun introduction to stage combat, including some (wooden) sword work as well as some basics of speaking the language of Shakespeare. Learn how to safely create a combat sequence and integrate it into a scene, then perform it in an exciting presentation. No prior theater experience necessary.

Workshop Leader(s): Talish Barrow

A is for Apple, M is for Manzana, and я is for яблоко

Explore your world through language! Experience several diverse cultures and languages of the world without leaving the shores of Lake Mendota. Learn how to write your name in a different alphabet and greet new friends in another language. Listen to popular music from other countries, try on clothing from different parts of the world, and more! You won’t go home tongue-tied, we promise.
