The Master's program in Counseling is a terminal Masters of Science degree which requires successful completion of 48 graduate credits (current students usually do two years of full-time study plus one to two summer semesters), a thesis or thesis project, and competencies in the following areas: Case Conceptualization, Presentation Skills, Counseling Skills, Multi-Cultural Counseling Skills, Consultation Skills, Professional Behavior, AODA Counseling, and Information Systems (basic computer skills). This program will train students to become competent in providing mental health counseling in community settings.
