There are occasionally fellowships available for one or two students who meet the university's criteria for underserved groups. An occasional work study position may become available as well. However, because of these limitations, all incoming and returning students needing funding are encouraged to seek it outside the department. Graduate assistantships in other departments and administrative bodies value the skills that counseling psychology students bring, and historically many of our students have been successful in obtaining positions on campus. Available positions and assistantships are listed on the UW on-line student job center (http://jobcenter.wisc.edu/); click on "Job Categories" and on Graduate Assistant (Research, Teaching and Project Assistant). Students are also encouraged to discuss their funding needs with their advisors.
