Department Activities

Students and faculty in the department participate in a wide variety of community activities.  Each year, our polar plunge team, the “Common Chill Factors” jump into icy Lake Monona to benefit the Wisconsin Special Olympics.  Over the years students and faculty have organized softball teams, participated in food drives, competed in Ultimate Frisbee, held ping-pong contests, hosted radio shows, gone sailboating and barbequed together with regularity.  Our cohorts and faculty tend to share a strong bond, and it is not uncommon to see students and faculty alike enjoying a cool beverage on the Memorial Union Terrace.
