Advanced Studies in Engaged Pedagogy* |

The Advanced Studies Program in Engaged Pedagogy is a cluster of courses that supports initial educators and other school-based educators seeking opportunities for reflective, relevant professional growth. The program consists of a series of 6-8 required 3-credit courses. It is expected that this certificate would take two to three years to complete.
Who should participate?
• Professional educators seeking opportunities to reflect on their practice and pursue relevant professional development.
• Initial educators creating professional development plans for re-licensure under Wisconsin PI-34.
Why participate?
For professional educators who have already earned a graduate degree or do not wish to pursue a full graduate program, the Advanced Studies Program in Engaged Pedagogy offers a set of coherent, relevant courses that provide opportunities for and recognition of professional growth.
For initial educators, this set of courses provides a supportive community through which to develop and implement a Professional Development Plan (PDP) .

This course offers a unique opportunity for school staff to develop professional development plans and explore topics of direct relevance and interest to their practice in schools. The course meets at a school site and may be repeated over multiple semesters. |
| 3 credits | Action Research in Schools Fall & Spring Semester (C&I 626) |
This course provides instruction and support to educators who want to conduct research on their own practices in schools. |
| 1-3 credits | Supervision in Teacher Education Varies: see course Timetable (C&I 860) | For those who are or wish to be university supervisors or cooperating teachers in practicum or student teaching programs. Study and discussion of factors which enter into the supervision of prospective teachers. |
| 3 credits | The Pre-Service and In-Service Education of Teachers Varies (C&I 950) |
For advanced students interested in problems's of teacher education. |

- After registering as a special student, you will receive a UW I.D. When you have received this I.D. number:
• Please send an email to Loretta Walton, lwalton2@education.wisc.edu , in the Department of Counseling Psychology. Include your full name, student I.D. number, and the course in which you would like to enroll.
• Loretta Walton will send you a confirmation email to inform you that you now have authorization to enroll for the course.
- Upon receiving your email of authorization to enroll for the course, you need to register for the course via your MyUW account.
- If you plan to complete the full sequence of courses in the Advanced Studies in the Psychosocial Studies of Student Achievement program, please send a letter of intent to:
