Department Facilities

The Education Building

Counseling Psychology is housed in the historic Education Building on scenic Bascom Hill.  The century-old structure features classrooms equipped with an array of modern equipment that allows for the use of virtually any media technology.  In January 2009, renovations to this iconic building will begin that are intended to further prepare the Education Building for service well into the 21st century.  The remodeled building will contain even greater access to technology resources as well as aesthetic comforts that will contribute to learning, research and outreach among all of its departments.

The Educational and Psychological Training Center (EPTC)

The Educational and Psychological Training Center is a training resource for students in several departments that prepare counselors and psychotherapists.  The Counseling Psychology Department's Independent Training Clinic is housed within the EPTC and is fully equipped with state of the art digital recording equipment that allows students to be effectively supervised and develop their clinical skills.  In addition, the EPTC stocks a variety of clinical assessment tools for students seeking to practice the administration and scoring of psychometric instruments and provides space suitable for training in group psychotherapy.  The center is staffed with friendly and knowledgeable individuals who can assist students with both practical and technical matters.

Counseling and Consultation Services (C&CS)

The University Health Service provides students with access to counseling services as part of their academic fees.  Adjunct faculty from the Department of Counseling Psychology serve as senior staff of the UW counseling center, known as Counseling and Consultation Services or "C&CS."  In addition to providing an outstanding training option to practicum students at both the Masters and Doctoral level, C&CS provides a sizable group of practice-oriented psychologists that are available for clinical consultation at virtually any time.  The C&CS staff is dedicated to training and eager to assist trainees of all levels in their clinical development.

301 - The Counseling Psychology Student Lounge

The counseling psychology student lounge, located just steps away from our main office, provides students with resources for both relaxation and academic productivity.  4 PCs and 1 Macintosh computer are available for student use as are resources for printing and space for meeting.  The lounge frequently sees the development of impromptu ping-pong games and is the site of the occasional pizza party or burrito bar paid for by the department.  Students in both the Masters and Doctoral program linger in our lounge, offering their perspectives to each other on virtually any topic.
