Program Description

 

 

 

The Master's program in Counseling is a terminal Masters of Science degree which requires successful completion of 48 graduate credits (current students usually do two years of full-time study plus two summer semesters), a master's paper/thesis, and competencies in the following areas: Case Conceptualization, Presentation Skills, Counseling Skills, Multi-Cultural Counseling Skills, Consultation Skills, Professional Behavior, AODA Counseling, and Information Systems (basic computer skills). Students currently specialize in School Counseling (K-12) and Community/College Counseling (includes counseling centers in higher education setting and higher education-Student Personnel/Student Affairs settings).

Please note: Our School Counseling (K-12) specialization will be suspended after our 2011 Cohort.  We continue to offer an MS in Counseling with an emphasis in Community Counseling.
