Changes in School of Education History Major and Minor

At the end of the Spring Semester 2009 the faculty approved the following significant changes to the School of Education History major and minor:

  • Change in total History major credits from 36 to 30. This will be effective for students graduating December, 2009.

  • Change in minimum number of History major credits required to be eligible for admission to the History Education (Social Studies) program from 30 to 27. This will affect students who will be applying to the program during the 2009-10 academic year for admission as of Fall Semester 2010.

  • Change in the History major and minor “seminar” requirement to a “historical research course” requirement, as of last semester, Spring Semester 2009. Students who have already taken the seminar may apply it to the new historical research course requirement.

Students can find these changes documented in the appropriate sections of the online Undergraduate Catalog. Please see your Education Academic Services advisor if  you have questions about these changes.
