  1. Reasons for Graduate Study. You may enter your reasons for graduate study on the Grad School on-line application, or you may send your statement to the department directly. Which ever method you choose you must indicate the area to which you are applying (Human Development, Learning Sciences, Quantitative Methods or School Psychology), and describe your reasons and objectives for pursuing graduate studies within that area of the department.  Helpful hints to prepare your statement of purpose can be found on the Graduate School’s website at:  http://info.gradsch.wisc.edu/admin/admissions/purpose.html

All students must indicate an area of concentration (See Department Brochure for an overview of each area).  The Reasons for Graduate Study is weighed heavily by the Admissions Committee. In it you should describe your reasons for doing graduate work in your chosen Area, specific interests (e.g., research topics you wish to pursue), and career objectives.

A Reasons for Graduate Study form is available for your convenience.

  2. Official GRE scores.
