ELPA alumni named in Madison365’s list of influential Latino leaders for 2024


Two alumni of the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis (ELPA) were named in Madison365’s list of Wisconsin’s most influential Latino leaders for 2024. They are among 12 members of the UW–Madison community who were honored on this annual list.

Arriaga de Brooks

Natalie Arriaga de Brooks
Brooks is the assistant director of the Wisconsin School of Business Multicultural Center. In addition to her work at UW–Madison, she is an active member of several organizations and serves as graduation committee co-Chair of the UW–Madison Latinx Academic Staff Association and Midwest North regional collegiate director for Gamma Alpha Omega Sorority, Inc. Brooks earned her master’s degree in educational leadership and policy analysis at UW–Madison.

Arango-Tavera

Paula Arango-Tavera
Arango-Tavera, who also earned a master’s degree in educational leadership and policy analysis at UW–Madison, serves as associate principal at Badger Ridge Middle School in Verona. She began her career as a fourth-grade math and science teacher in Florida, later transitioned to a middle school teaching role in Madison, and advanced to dean of students before becoming an associate principal. 

Madison365, a nonprofit online news publication, has published power lists recognizing Wisconsin’s most influential leaders from different racial and ethnic backgrounds since 2015. The lists aim to “highlight the beauty of the diversity across our state,” says Henry Sanders, Jr., co-founder, publisher, and CEO of Madison365.
