  • COMPLETED word document PDF document THE DEPARTMENT UPDATE AND ORIENTATION SESSION was held Thursday, Sept 6 from 9-12 at the Red Gym (On Wisconsin Room). It was well attended by the new faculty and graduate students, and discussion ranged from the issues of the demographics and history of the department, to how the department's mission could best reflect diversity issues in all aspects of its teaching.

  • The Department is pleased to announce that C. Cryss Brunner has taken a position as associate professor in the Department of Educational Policy and Administration in the University of Minnesota College of Education and Human Development. She may be reached at brunner@umn.edu.

  • Ed Admin Partners in the Wisconsin School Leadership Academy. On Friday, June 15, 2001, Governor McCallum announced the creation of the Wisconsin School Leadership Academy, which is supported by a major, three year grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The Academy will provide continuing professional education for teams of school prinicipals and superintendents from across the state. Summer institutes and seminars will focus on helping leadership teams improve student learning through improved use of technology and data-based decision making.   • Until June 15, there is a call for presentations for the 2001 Wisconsin Leadership Conference. The topic of the conference is "Pushing the Boundaries of Leadership: From Pre-School to Grad School"

  • WISCAPE, the University's new Wisconsin Center for the Advancement of Postsecondary Education, will offer higher education leaders opportunities for research, instruction, professional development, and public forums.

  • Proposals are being accepted through April 15 for the 2001 Wisconsin Leadership Conference, Pushing the Boundaries of Leadership: From Pre-school to Grad School.

  • Vilas Travel Fellowships for 2001 available for international or domestic conference attendance, for dissertators or MFA students. Deadline April 2, 2001.

  • The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis is pleased to announce a competition for one graduate fellowship in the amount of $1600 for the 2001-2002 academic year.

  • The March 21 issue of Wisconsin Week features a major story on the Department's new certificate program that prepares graduate students to consider and enter faculty careers. Known as the Teaching and Learning Scholarship (TALS) program, 25 students from 19 different disciplines across campus are working closely with Professor Clifton Conrad, Dr. Sandra Courter, and other faculty from the School of Education. TALS seeks to strengthen the preparation of graduate students for the dramatically changing academic workplace of the 21st century.
