Donations

Alumni, Alumnae, and Friends can support the Department of Educational Policy Studies by making a gift to the UW Foundation that is designated for the use of the Department of Educational Policy Studies.

Private gifts provide the margin of excellence for many programs at the University of Wisconsin--Madison. Wisconsin is a state of average income, yet its public University is one of the best in the United States. In these times of shrinking public budgets for public higher education, private giving is increasingly important.

The strengths of our program are evident elsewhere on this site. We are consistently ranked in the top three programs of our kind in the nation.

You may give a gift to support any part of our program that you wish. We have a general EPS fund that is used to support activities like last year’s conference on Brown v. Board or a conference planned for February 2005 on the federal re-authorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act known as No Child Left Behind. This general fund further supports an annual prize, named for former professor Matthew Willing, for the best dissertation in progress. It also supports unique special needs that occasionally arise.

We further have three named fellowship funds that support meritorious graduate students. These are named after Professors Sterling Fishman, Herbert Kliebard, and Professor and former Dean John Palmer. (The fund for John Palmer supports graduate students from either Educational Policy Studies or Curriculum and Instruction, as the merits of individual candidates in a particular year warrant.) Contributions to these funds are also made through the UW Foundation.

A convenient way to make a gift is to visit the UW Foundation Website, http://www.uwfoundation.wisc.edu/web/www.nsf/allpublished/make+a+gift and to designate the Department of Educational Policy Studies or one of the named fellowship funds on the gift form you will find there.
