Excellence in Diversity Award

The Excellence in Diversity Award annually recognizes SOE faculty and staff who have made significant contributions to campus climate toward building a diverse and equitable School of Education.

 

Award Criteria: This award will recognize faculty and staff who have achieved excellence in diversity in the areas of:

  • Preparation of students, staff, and faculty to thrive personally and professionally in a world that is diverse, global, and interconnected (Beyond Diversity Planning: A Call to Action, Diversity Forum October 2009, Seeding Inclusive Excellence)

  • Improving culture, climate, and communications (Dean Underwood, SOE Strategic Initiatives 2009-10)

  • Recruiting, supporting and retaining excellent and diverse faculty, administrators, staff, and students (Dean Underwood, SOE Strategic Initiatives 2009-10)

Nominations:

The nomination packet should include the following:

  • A letter of nomination

  • A letter of support from nominee’s colleague (student, staff, faculty or community member)

  • The nominee’s updated curriculum vitae

 

Submission:

Submit nominations packets to Ashley Voss by Monday, February 27, 2012.

Nominations may be submitted electronically to avoss@wisc.edu or in person/by mail to the External Relations Office - 181 Education Building, 1000 Bascom Mall, Madison, WI 53706.

Review and Selection:

Packets will be reviewed by a committee of faculty, staff, and community partners appointed by Dean Julie Underwood.  Recipients will be informed in early March and will be recognized at an awards ceremony on April 11, 2012 in the Wisconsin Idea Room. 

All faculty and staff members in the School are invited to attend the event, which will honor other faculty, staff, and classified award recipients from throughout the School.
