Complementing the University of Wisconsin’s status as one of the most internationally connected universities in the world, the School of Education (SOE) plays an important role in preparing students to be global citizens and in helping to shape the University’s broader global agenda.
Through our top-ranked graduate and undergraduate programs, the SOE prepares new generations of professionals to lead and work in the United States and internationally. Study abroad programs, global institutional partnerships, research centers, and programs of study with international foci all serve to make the SOE among the most comprehensive schools of education in the nation.

Within the connected fields of global, international, and comparative studies of education the breadth and diversity of specializations within the SOE is great. Academic and applied fields range from curriculum and instruction to policy and disciplinary studies of education around the world to the visual and physical performing arts. And while the SOE supports the international research and study interests of undergraduate and graduate students, it also fosters research linkages among SOE faculty and staff with a host of institutions in the United States and internationally.
UW Madison’s focus on developing global initiatives reflects myriad local, national, and international changes that will shape the 21st century. The School of Education, with its historic emphasis on issues such as diversity, multiculturalism, cultural pluralism, and comparative studies, is uniquely positioned to advance global competence and to continue to foster relationships worldwide.
