Course Requirements

The following courses satisfy State of Wisconsin DPI requirements as well as requirements of the Department of Kinesiology, University of Wisconsin-Madison. Contact Tim Gattenby , 262-9562.

Area of Concentration = 15 semester credits

All students in Teacher Certification take the following course:

  • KINES 316 Adapted Physical Education 3 credits

For an Area of Concentration in Adapted, take the following additional 12 semester credits of course work:

  • RP&SE 300 Individuals with Disabilities 3 credits
  • KINES 300 Practicum: Adapted Fitness & Personal Training 1 credit
  • KINES 364 Assessment and Programming in Adapted Physical Education 3 credits
  • KINES 365 Practicum: Adapted Physical Education (Children) 2 credits
  • Elective *** Rehab Psych & Spec Ed (RP&SE 410, 420, 430,440); 3 credits
    Com Dis, or Adapted PE: N.B. must be approved by advisor

Total Credits In Adapted Area 15 credits

Please Note: DPI requires only 12 credits for certification. Teachers with PE degrees may get certified by taking 12 credits (Elective not necessary).
