Alumni and Friends on NATA Program
June 10, 2009

Those in attendance at the NATA Annual Meeting in San Antonio will have the chance support Alumni and Friends who are presenting during the symposium. If your schedule allows try to check out the following:

Tim McGuine is presenting during the Free Communications oral presentation session on Thursday June 18th at 8:15am (HBGCC Room 214B). His talk is titled: Changes in Health Related Quality of Life in Young Female Athletes with Knee Injuries. Andrew Winterstein and Dr. Kathleen Carr are co-authors.

Dr. Kathleen Carr is presenting during the Free Communications oral presentation session on Thursday June 18th at 9:00am. Her talk is titled: Functional Knee Outcomes One Year After Injury in Young Female Athletes. Tim McGuine and Andrew Winterstein are co-authors.

Andrew Winterstein will give a talk on Thursday June 19th as part of the 8:15 - 10:15am Feature Presentation - Integrating Evidence-Based Practice Into Your Setting. His talk is titled: Evidence-Based Practice: It Applies to Teaching Too!

Andrew Winterstein is also presenting a poster as part of the Free Communications poster session on Friday between 8:00 and 11:30 (Authors present 10:30 - 11:30). His poster is titled: The Impact of Knee Injury on Physical Activity Outcomes in Young Female Athletes. Tim McGuine and Dr. Kathleen Carr are co-authors.

Lisa Chinn, UW alum and current doctoral candidate at UVA will present a poster on Saturday June 20th between 8:00am - Noon (Authors present 11:00am - Noon). Her poster is titled: The Effect of Static Stretching on Countermovement Vertical Jump: A Systematic Review.

Dr. Kelsey Logan, former UW-Madison Sports Medicine Fellow and now at Ohio State University will present a talk titled: The Role of Cognitive Rest in Concussion Recovery on Saturday June 20th at 1:00pm.

Dr. Jorge Gomez, former UW-Madison Sports Medicine Fellow and now at UT San Antonio, is speaking on the main program as part of the Distinguished Scholars Program. These talks run between 3:45 and 5:30pm Thursday (6/18) afternoon. Dr. Gomez's talk is part of the ACSM lecture exchange. His topic is: A Systematic Method of Evaluating the Athlete with Acute Shortness of Breath.

Shari Khaja is speaking on a panel as part of a pre conference workshop. The topic is: The Value Proposition of Physician Extenders within Healthcare Today. Shari is speaking on Demonstrating the Financial Value of the Athletic Trainer to Hospital Administration. This workshop is scheduled for Wednesday. Check you materials for time and location.
