Access to the Medical Sciences Center
After Hours-See OT program assistants. You will be provided with a UW Madison police and security form to be completed and submitted to the police office for a building identification badge. The building is open from 8 am until 7 pm M-F and closed on the weekends. An access badge is needed to enter the building.
Wheelchair accessible entrances are located in the back of the Medical Sciences Center. There are 3 wheelchair accessible doors adjacent to disabled parking. Please refer to the UW-Madison Disability Resource Guide http://fpm-www3.fpm.wisc.edu/ada/Default.aspx

Classroom Descriptions
There are currently 4 OT teaching classrooms located in the Medical Sciences Center and these include rooms 2150, 3130, 3150, and 6225. Three of the four classrooms have been remodeled and one is currently in the process. There is also an ADL lab located in 3169.
Room 2150 is in the process of being remodeled. Currently splinting equipment/materials and some power tools are located in room 2150. Large sinks and tables facilitate ease in teaching splinting. Plans to upgrade this room are moving forward. The program envisions a "model clinic" that will provide "state of the art" equipment and supplies for teaching a wide variety of assessment and intervention skills including instrumental activities of daily living, work and leisure occupations, seating and positioning, splinting, sensory integration and environmental control.
Room 3130 has state-of-the-art technology for multimedia presentations including a Sony intel inside pentium 4 notebook and Infocus DLP projector.
Room 3150 is being redesigned and structured to facilitate laboratory experiences. AV equipment in this room includes: a Kodak ektagraphic IIIB projector, 3M LCD projector, Sony DVD/VHS recorder, a SONY Notebook computer and an Olympus Zoom Digital Camera.
Physical Disabilities equipment are located in the cabinets on the far side of room 3150 including braces burn equipment, dressing aides, eating devices, low vision equipment, goniometers, grooming devices, health monitoring equipment, sensory testing equipment, stopwatches, theraband equipment, weights, and writing aides.
Pediatric Assessment tools are located in the large cabinet next to the sink. The tests are arranged in alphabetical order and there is a sign out sheet on the inside of the cabinet door. Adult Assessment tools and adult cognitive/visual perceptual equipment are located in the cabinets in the back of the room on the right.
The closet in this room 3150A houses Pediatric materials, toys, and games.
Room 6225 has upgraded classroom equipment including capabilities for distance education. AV equipment in this room includes: Infocus DLP projector, SONY DVD/VHS recorder, SONY Notebook computer, SONY Trinitron Color TV, Clarity Polycom, Canon Video Visualizer, and 3M overhead projector.
Room 3169 has ADL equipment
Room 3225 is the Assistive Technology Lab with Dell and Mac computers, printer and scanner. Access to the room is by a numbered key pad. Please see Robin Willard or Terri Pope in the OT office for the access code.
All OT class and laboratory space is equipped with both voice and internet/Web access jacks. Portable equipment for use in all classrooms is located in room 3140 and includes: four video cameras, eight videocassette recorders, five VCR/DVD monitors, three 35 mm slide projectors and four overhead projectors, two video projectors and associated computers, two video cameras and several audio tape and replay recorders. There is also a CD/DVD/Video library in the AV closet room 3140.

Fire/Evacuation Routes: Building evacuation routes are posted to the right of the elevators and near some exits.
Fire extinguishers are located at both ends and in the middle of the hallways. There are extinguishers next to the entrance to rooms 2150 and 3150 on the west side, next to rooms 2195 and 3195 in the middle of the hall and at the end of the east side of the hall.
Emergency red phone is located on the 3rd floor to the right of the elevator and stairwell.
Fire Alarms are located near the red exit signs
UW-Madison emergency text-messaging service is in the planning stage as of March, 2008 and expected to be ready by the summer. This service will send warnings to faculty, staff and student cell phone during a campus emergency. You will need to enroll in the WiscAlerts-Text program. SAFEride cab service-Call 262-5000. Provides free cab rides at nighttime when an individual is outside the SAFEwalk boundary (2 mile radius of campus) or not near a SAFEride bus route.
