Funds for these scholarships come from the generosity of past students and faculty. Recipients are chosen on a competitive basis according to the criteria established for the particular award, and in compliance with the following policy adopted by the School of Education Awards and Honors Committee:
In general, scholarships will only be awarded to students having an overall GPA of 3.0 or above . When the scholarship has a criterion of need or promise, in addition to demonstrated scholastic ability, exceptions may occasionally be made for students showing great promise or exceptional need.
Students complete only one application form and submit it according to the instructions on the form. The Scholarship, Assistantship, and Student Affairs Committee will review the applications and determine the scholarship recipients. All majors in Athletic Training, Dance, Exercise Science, Movement Science, and Physical Education Teacher Education are eligible for the scholarships that designate a major in Physical Education and Dance. The Kinesiology Department was formerly named Physical Education and Dance, therefore the scholarship designations are so worded. Department of Kinesiology scholarships are not available to students classified as Pre-Kinesiology (PKN). Scholarship availability and award totals change each year, as they are based on projected earnings on the base donation. Following is a brief description of scholarships which may be available to current undergraduate majors in the Department of Kinesiology.
