Professor Gomez's scholarship has focused on the identity development of pre-service teachers as they are enrolled in a teacher education program preparing them to teach for social justice and equity. She currently is engaged in a research project concerning how prospective Latino/a teachers perceive, understand, and experience their university education and the elementary education program at UW-Madison, and how they, their university-based and school-based teacher educators understand their identities and successes.
