Description:
AM: Screen Printing
Explore the variety of techniques used in water-based screen printing. An assortment of methods will be demonstrated and you will explore some of these techniques in the creation of your own print editions. You will also have the opportunity to create additional experimental works with instructor prepared screens. NO PREVIOUS PRINT EXPERIENCE REQUIRED.
Please dress appropriately for this workshop, since you will be printing and dealing with inks. Wear older clothes or bring an old shirt or printing apron to wear while printing. Blank t-shirts will be provided for your final project, but feel free to bring your own shirt to print on!
PM: Digital Photography
Photograph campus life, students, and downtown Madison using high-tech digital cameras. You’ll discover rules of composition and lighting, digital manipulation of your images using Photoshop©, and then make 8x10” prints. One poster size photo will be printed during the week.
Instructor:
Screen Printing
Erin O’Conner is a graduate student in the UW-Madison art department with an emphasis in screen printing and graphic design. She received her BA in art with an art history minor from the University of WI- Stevens Point and an MA in art from UW- Madison. Outside of academia, Erin is an up-and-coming gig poster artist and freelance designer having created posters for national and international recording artists including Academy Award winners, The Swell Season.
Digital Photography
Linda Friend iteaches video production courses at Edgewood College, and is an MFA student in still photography & video in the UW- Madison Art Dept. She recently retired from Wisconsin Public Television after 25 years as a senior producer.
