Now, thanks to a generous private gift, this 100-year-old structure is undergoing a renovation and addition to renew historic characteristics and to prepare it to meet the School of Education’s 21st century needs. Construction began in January 2009, with completion scheduled by summer 2010.
EDUCATION BUILDING PHOTOS: In addition to the galleries on this site, photos of the Education Building Project are posted (and regularly updated) on the School of Education's Facebook page.
WEBCAMS: Construction of the new sections of the building may be viewed through a pair of webcams. Here are the links: Science Hall view and Helen C. White view.
The Art Lofts Building Project: The long-sought goal of bringing all areas of the UW-Madison Department of Art into a unified, modern instructional facility is taking shape with the transformation of the Art Lofts – the former University Warehouse near the Kohl Center – into state-of-the-art facilities for most graduate art programs. Construction on the Art Lofts wrapped up in December 2008, and the facility is now in use. Check out the photo galleries for photos of the project. See photos and videos from the dedication celebration in May 2009 by going to a special Art Department page.
