The Building: From Engineering to Education

For more than a century, the Education Building has been a fixture on historic Bascom Hill – the heart of the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. Designed in 1899 and constructed in 1900 in the Beaux Arts architectural style, the building originally housed the College of Engineering. Later, Engineering relocated near Camp Randall and, since the early 1950s, Education has been the sole occupant.
