Student Diversity Programs
"The UW-Madison School of Education has a long history of strong commitment to diversity.
This is demonstrated in the many ways we work to build and enhance
academic and work environments where an increasingly diverse community of students,
staff, and faculty is able to thrive. The Student Diversity Programs form a core
part of these efforts and I am honored to be in a position to work with these outstanding
programs and people."
Associate Dean
Mariamne Whatley
Formerly known as “Minority Student Services,” the Student Diversity Programs Office
represents the School of Education’s commitment to diversity and access to higher
education. To this end, the School houses programs that serve students from K-12
to those interested in graduate school. In addition to being an administrative hub
of campus- wide programs, including PEOPLE, TRiO Student Support Services. Posse,
First Wave, College Access, and Summer Education Research Programs, the Student
Diversity Programs Office is also responsible for recruitment and retention of undergraduate
and graduate students from underrepresented backgrounds in the School of Education.
With the new leadership from Associate Dean Mariamne Whatley and Assistant Dean
Ruttanatip (Dang) Chonwerawong, our unit is working with faculty, staff, and other
constituents to strengthen our services as well as building relationships across
the campus community. We are excited to bring you a brief summary of our programs
and services. More information about each program can be found at respective web
sites or by calling our office at 890-2580. We look forward to continuing our support
to students and hearing from you and answering any questions you may have.
