Eagle's Wing achieves National Early Childhood Program accreditation

November 01, 2017

Eagle’s Wing Child Care, from UW-Madison's Office of Child Care and Family Resources (OCCFR), has earned National Early Childhood Program Accreditation (NECPA). Eagle's Wing Child Care provides a variety of child-care programs Monday through Friday, year-round, for families from University Apartments, UW-Madison and the surrounding community.

OCCFR promotes the academic and professional goals of the UW-Madison community through the administration of early education and family support programs, and is administratively housed within the School of Education.

Eagle's Wing Child Care received NECPA on Sept. 30, after more than a year-long process of surveys, classroom and playground updates, policy review and a site visit. This is the first time Eagle’s Wing has garnered NECPA status, national recognition as an exceptional site for children. Eagle’s Wing has been accredited by the City of Madison’s Child Care Unit for over 20 years.

Previously, the center was concurrently accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), but made the switch so it could enroll children in the community who have Access for Infants and Mothers (AIM) funding. AIM is a federal grant that has been integral in aiding student parents as they achieve their academic goals. OCCFR is a long-term supporter of both Eagle’s Wing and families receiving AIM funding.
