Koykkar's music featured in recent ballet and performed at music festival

UW-Madison's Joseph Koykkar’s music was featured in a recent ballet performance in New York and was also performed during a music festival in West Virginia.

Koykkar is a professor with the School of Education's Dance Department.

Selection's of Koykkar's music was used as the soundtrack for New York-based choreographer Julia Gleich's new ballet "Martha (The Searchers)."  Performances of "Martha (The Searchers)" took place Oct. 27-29 at the James Duffy Performance Space, Mark Morris Dance Center, Brooklyn, N.Y.

Two of Koykkar’s solo works for piano were performed during the West Fork New Music Festival in September at Fairmount University in Fairmount, West Virginia. The solo works are titled "Streets and Bridges" and "Impulse," and were performed by Washington, D.C.-based pianist Topher Ruggiero.
