Kelley, Pavlakis receive Journal of Research on Leadership Education’s Best Article Award

UW-Madison’s Carolyn Kelley and Alexandra Pavlakis of Southern Methodist University co-authored a paper that received the 2017 Journal of Research on Leadership Education’s Best Article Award.

The award-wining research article is titled, “Accreditation in the Professions Implications for Educational Leadership Preparation Programs.”

The article reviews the role of institutional and programmatic accreditation, and examines programmatic accreditation in the fields of medicine, psychology, engineering and law to identify themes and trends that may have implications for the design of accreditation for educational leadership programs.

Kelley is the School of Education’s senior associate dean for academic programs and is a professor with the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.  Pavlakis is an alumna of UW-Madison and an assistant professor with SMU’s Department of Education Policy and Leadership. Pavlakis received her Ph.D. from UW-Madison’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis.

The two were recognized on Nov. 16 during the University Council for Educational Administration’s (UCEA) annual convention in Denver.
