Community Drawing Jam with Lynda Barry Nov. 30 at Eagle Heights Community Center

November 22, 2017

UW-Madison’s Office of Child Care and Family Resources (OCCFR) and the Chazen Family Endowment are proud to sponsor a community drawing jam with Lynda Barry and her Drawbridge students.

Drawbridge is an experimental, arts-based research methods course that facilitates multi-generational research teams in examining questions and problem solving through spontaneous drawing, collage and writing. Barry has been working with the 4-year-old kindergarten class this fall at Eagles Wing, which serves families from University Apartments, UW-Madison and the surrounding community.

Drawing Jam posterBarry is an award-winning author and cartoonist with the School of Education's Art Department. The associate professor of interdisciplinary creativity holds the Chazen Family Distinguished Chair in Art.

The event will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30, at the Eagle Heights Community Center gym, 611 Eagle Heights Dr., in Madison.  All families are welcome to drop in between 5:30 and 7 p.m.

There will be live music, snacks and plenty of opportunities for drawing and engagement with fellow artists, young and old.

The Office of Child Care and Family Resources (OCCFR) promotes the academic and professional goals of the UW-Madison community through the administration of early education and family support programs.

OCCFR is administratively housed within the School of Education.
