Russell Wilson ad sums up benefits of UW-Madison

December 22, 2016

"Where would I be without the University of Wisconsin?"

UW-Madison alumnus and NFL star Russell Wilson asks this question in a new TV spot.

Wilson, noted not just for athletics but also his service work, gives a succinct answer designed to show the impact the university has on its students.

In 2011, Wilson attended UW-Madison as a graduate student with the School of Education’s Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis before leaving school to join the NFL.

Wilson created the Why Not You Foundation to honor his family, especially his father, Harrison Wilson III, who passed away from diabetes in 2010. He is a regular visitor to the Seattle Children's Hospital and hosts the Russell Wilson Passing Academy in multiple cities each summer. He is also the national ambassador for the CR3 Diabetes Association, which assists people with diabetes who cannot afford essential supplies.

The Super Bowl-winning quarterback of the Seattle Seahawks spoke at UW-Madison’s spring commencement ceremony this past May at Camp Randall Stadium.
