Alum Tauscher inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame

July 31, 2018
UW-Madison alumnus Mark Tauscher was inducted into the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame earlier this month.

Tauscher is a former Badger and Packer offensive lineman who graduated from UW-Madison in 1999 before going on to earn his master’s degree in educational administration from the School of Education in 2003. He also is a former member of the School of Education's Board of Visitors.

Tauscher was presented for induction by his older brother, and the induction was covered by the Wisconsin State Journal.

“He doesn’t need any tips on speaking,” the WSJ article quoted Brett Favre as saying. “He’s a hell of a lot smarter than I ever was or will be. And, you’ve got to be careful getting in a little matching-wits contest with him because you walk away and you’re the one who looks like a dummy. And as knowledgeable as he is, he can enter into any conversation and hold his own.”

"It’s hard to grasp how unlikely it is that a seventh-round pick, a UW walk-on from a Wisconsin town of 600 ended up having an 11-year career in the NFL and now is a Packers Hall of Fame inductee. This is a dream come true,” Tauscher said in his acceptance speech.
