SoE Technology Purchase Guidelines
The School of Education Information Technology office, SoE IT, recommends that departments and units that use us for their technical support needs also work with us when planning department/unit computer or technology-related purchases. From a financial standpoint, we have contacts with the approved vendors, and can work on combining orders to get bulk pricing discounts, whenever possible. This provides you with the most machine for your money. From a support standpoint, we can standardize technology purchases among fewer models, enhancing our ability to support your computers and peripherals, and ensuring compatibility with your technology environment. We can also make appropriate recommendations on needed warranties. While we have standard sets of specifications that we offer, we will consult and work with you to make sure that the right computer or peripheral is ordered and you get the best performance possible to meet your needs. If you have a departmental technology contact, we also work closely with them to coordinate the whole process from ordering to delivery and setup to continued support.
NOTE: If you choose to NOT consult the SoE IT office prior to making your technology-related purchases, or if you go against our recommendations, we can not guarantee any technical support for those items from our office.
