Using WiscVPN And Static Profiles (Macintosh)

You will need to have the Cisco Systems VPN Client installed prior to following these steps. Instructions for downloading and installing the VPN client can be found on DoIT's webpage.

1. If it has not already been done, you will first need to download the static profile for WiscVPN. These files can be found here. To connect from off campus you will need the OffCampusStatic profile. To connect from campus you will need the OnCampusStatic profile. Control-click the appropriate file(s) on the above page and choose Download Linked File . Then, in the VPNClient, click the Import button in the toolbar, navigate to the location you saved the profile(s) to, and click Open.

 

2. Open VPNClient. The program can be found in your Applications folder on your hard drive.

3. In the VPNClient program, select the appropriate static profile (on or off campus) by clicking on it once. Then click Connect in the menu bar.

 

4. Fill in the Username and Password fields to connect. The username should be your NetID_1. The password will be your Net ID password. You can refer to the email sent to you at the time of activating your static profile.

 

5. Click OK to connect.

6. If successful, a dialog box will appear to inform you that you have connected to the network. Click Continue to finish.

 

7. When you would like to disconnect from the SoE network, select the connected profile by clicking it once. Then click Disconnect in the toolbar. Exiting the VPNClient program will also prompt you to disconnect.
