UW-Madison’s Ellie Bruecker has been invited to attend the Education Policy Academy this summer in Washington, D.C.
The academy is sponsored by the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), and it runs Aug. 9-11.
“I'm thrilled to have been selected and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to learn from scholars and other students from across the country,” says Bruecker, a doctoral candidate with the School of Education's
Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. “I think it will be a really unique chance to learn how research can influence policymaking -- something I hope to do in my own career.”
Bruecker’s research interests are focused on K-12 and higher education finance. She primarily studies equity in state school funding structures, and also does some work on federal financial aid for college students.
She recently co-authored a report from the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) titled, "Aiding Success: The Role of Federal and State Financial Aid in Supporting California Community College Students."
